The Basics

How The Game Works:

You are in control of the mouse. You must use the mouse to push blocks around to trap cats. Trapping a cat will turn it into cheese, this cheese is worth points and if you get enough cheese the mouse’s health will also increase. If you fail to trap the cat and the cat catches the mouse, it will end up taking one health. If the mouse’s health decreases entirely then the game is over.

Cats are not the only threat to the mouse, certain blocks and traps can also end up harming the mouse. More details on blocks and game elements can be found below.

Blocks:

Blue Block: A Blue Block is the standard block in Cat Trap. These blocks can be pushed in any direction without any limitations.

Solid Block: These blocks can not be pushed at all, they are simply to heavy. Pushing other blocks into one of these will not help either.

Lead Block: Lead Blocks are heavy, but can still be pushed around. Lead Blocks can only be pushed by themselves.

Fish Block: Fish Blocks behave like Blue Blocks except they attract cats, if a cat goes near one it will become completely distracted.

Fire Block: Fire Blocks are dangerous only when touched directly by the mouse, which will cause the mouse to burst into flames and loose one health.

TNT Block: Pushing a TNT Block will trigger a timer to engage, get out of the way before the explosion occurs or the mouse will be injured. The explosion destroys all surround blocks and cats.

Elements:

Sticky Trap: Sticky Traps will cause the mouse to become stuck upon moving over one. It takes a few seconds for the mouse to become unstuck.

Mouse Trap: If a mouse happens to run over one of these it will instantly lose one heart.

Portal: Portals can be a great way to travel, landing on a portal will take the mouse to another random Portal.

Dog Bone: If a mouse gets a Dog Bone a dog will be brought in.

Dog: Dogs are here to help the mouse. A dog will chase down the closest cat and turn it into cheese for the mouse. A dog can only catch one cat then it disappears.

In Game User Interface:

Here is an image of the basic user interface that is located on the top of the window while the game is in progress. Top left text, in green, indicates the current game score. On the top left you’ll see some hearts, these indicate the mouse’s health level. Bottom left, in blue, is the all time high score. And finally, the bottom right number, in yellow, indicates the total number of cheese the mouse has collected.
